Looking at the CDN listing for bulls, is the pin setting akin to location of the thurl? For example: http://www.cdn.ca/query/detail_ge.php?b ... m=67253405

I don't know the answer. I did look at the reliability of the "pin setting" trait, as determined by genomic testing, and found that there is not a very good correlation. Therefore the actual resulting animals may have significantly different pin settings than indicated by the genomic ranking. Also, there was very little genetic correlation between pin setting and lifetime production.

The pin setting does have a high heritability, so if it is important to a particular mating then you would probably want to use a daughter proven sire instead of a genomic "proven" sire.
