The August 2011 genetic update includes a new column called JH1. This will tell you if a bull is a carrier for the Jersey Haplotype 1. The letter "C" will indicate carrier. The letter "F" will indicate free. The letter "U" will indicate unknown (no genomic test has been done).
The official position of the AJCA is to "manage" JH1 through careful mating. Thanks to genomics, we can do that. However, I wonder if there may be a segment of the Jersey breeders that might want to see JH1 eliminated. In my quick analysis of the numbers, JH1 did not seem to any effect the DPR (daughter preg rate). However, it may have a significant effect on SCR (sire conception rate) which will obviously lead to higher services per conception and a longer calving interval.
