Just added: historic polled sires database

I just added a database of polled sires dating back to 1960. Here is a link: www.polledjerseys.com/historicbulls.htm. I pulled the data from www.dairybulls.com and made the table sortable by heading. I was not able to list all the available data, so you will have to go to dairybulls.com if you need more information on a particular bull.

This site has the potential to be really good. Is it possible to have a photograph of the bull as well. I am trying to locate polled jersey bulls however since the AI companies deliberately bred the black jersey bull several years ago it seems almost impossible to get anything else. Obviously a black bull breeds well over a holstein but when you are trying to breed the traditional jersey and dont just want something to cross over a holstein it makes it very difficult when you can't get a photograph of the bull or its decendants.

Hi KarynB!
Welcome and thanks for the input. I see that you are from Australia and I am interested in what polled genetics are available in your part of the world. Are you importing from the USA, NZ, or are there sufficient polled bulls available in Australia? What are you currently using?

I would love to include pictures of the bulls, but I don't have very many of them (There are over 300 bulls in the historic database). I will try to add them as time allows. The AI studs seem to be reluctant to publish pictures of some of the bulls. A few of the current bulls can be found on each stud's website.

Again, thanks for the input and let me know what else you would like to see added.

I see that Rapid Bay Grand Prix is on your list but with no polled designation in his name-I was contemplating buying some of his semen and definitely would if he is polled. Just have not seen him advertised as such and didn't see where it showed up in his pedigree.
I also noticed that Taurus has a new young sire out Colonel-P that is tested as A2-A2 and polled.
